Eastern Railroad Discussion > Reflections in Lake Erie LandDate: 06/29/25 12:51 Reflections in Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 Sunday June 29, 2025
Shinrock / Vermilion, OH Temps in the mid-80's. a little cooler than it has been the last 5-6 days. 1. - 3. This morning 36N came east out of Bellevue on the former Nickel Plate line heading for GC interlocking at Vermilion to take the connector for Conway Yard in Pittsburgh. This train originated in Madison, IL, across the river from St. Louis. Power is NS 4704 solo up front and NS 4282 as a rear DPU. Today, due to the thundershower rains we had earlier in the week, they pass along "Lake Shinrock" and cast a beautiful reflection. 9. Now hanging out at the Vermilion docks and 16N rolls overhead. Plenty of boats out today. Power is NS 4223 and 7570. Date: 06/29/25 12:59 Re: Reflections in Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 10. & 11. Then 310 comes by with NS 4778 solo up front, and NS 4189 as the rear DPU.
12. Next up is L15 running a little late today with NS 4109 and 4786. Most of the boats have now disappeared. Date: 06/29/25 13:03 Re: Reflections in Lake Erie Land Author: train1275 13. - 15. Last train of the day is the 546 coal for the Monroe, MI power plant. NS 1068, the Erie heritage has been cycling back and forth on this 546 / 547 job for some time now. A nice sight to see, even though now the harsh sun has swung around making the lighting hard for photos. The trailing unit is NS 9781. Long live the ERIE ! I've decided this unit looks much better from a front facing angle than from the side.

Also the water at Vermilion looks a tad muddy, you guys must have had a ton of rain indeed. Dan Posted from iPhone Date: 06/30/25 03:32 Re: Reflections in Lake Erie Land Author: dschlegel Congrats on IOTD!
