NS OCS car move around the loop at Gallitzin.
Author: dwi189

NS ran a deadhead OCS car move West from Altoona and around the loop track at Gallitzin to spin the train for a future NS OCS trip.

An NS SD70ACu powered the move before putting the train away at Juniata today.

And finally, the train is seen headed East to head back to Altoona.

Boy, what’s left of AR sure looks forlorn.

That's what I was thinking.  Looks like they started demolition and then stopped?

I'd love to see an aerial from a drone of the loop. It almost looks like the train is coming out of hiding.

Contractors gutted AR and MG several years ago, removing windows and perhaps asbestos in the process.

The foliage along the right of way has not been cut back adequately and not just on this railroad.  Amazing that crews can see around curves anymore or, in some cases, clearly see signals.

Here you go wabash2800 ...... not a drone, but a Cessna 172 on October 21, 2009.  The second picture is a wider view more from the east taken on October 20, 2009.  And finally,  one of MG Tower taken on 10/21/09 .... for good measure.

There are two tracks visible on the loop.

The inner track is referred to by MOW as the loop stub where they park MOW equipment from time to time.

OCS is tentatively scheduled to be in Birmingham, Al on July 15th. NS 8099 just received a 6 mo. maint in Birmingham a week or so ago. Has special instructions to route it to Juniata for the OCS.
