Corn harvest & M513
Author: CSX2605

Started corn harvest today in Southwest Indiana. This was the best shot I could get and not miss the train. CSX M513(Indy-Nashville) rolls south on the CE&D sub just south of Vincennes as the combine makes the last dump for the day.
Video is from 8-29-2013 and is a tie train going south.

And the combine is the right color!  I'm hoping to pull something like this off with my R50 one day.  Very nice.

Well thought-out scene.

I didn't realize that there was any corn ready for harvest yet.  So far I've seen only one beanfield that has begun to turn yellow.

(I'm no farmer, but still curious enough to have purchased a ticket to attend this week's Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois.)

I'm going today Jeff. Great time to talk to the companies and give some feedback. This corn was planted at the end of March. We'll knock out this 150 acres and might be a short delay on harvest progress waiting for the rest to dry down some more. Always some good NS action in Decatur!

That would be great to do with the R50! Sept. 8, 1990 was a big day on the farm. We traded the old L2 for an R50 with the Deutz air cooled motor! That was a fantastic combine! What's a John Deere? LOL!

Is the corn as good as the USDA says it is?

with the cell phone and two-way radio there is not much time for music. There is marketing podcasts or model railroad podcasts to play. I really don't listen to the radio anymore.

Haha! No! Around 160 and the hot dry spell in June put the hurt on it. I guess we will see how the later planted corn does but doubt if it is a record crop. Soybeans are looking really good so we'll see when we put the combine in the field.

I've got a meme for that, but it's not train related so I won't post it.
Looks like you're running a Super Series now.  Anything between the R50 and this?
I grew up with an N5 and then R52.

Yes, R52, R65, S77, S88 & S98. I think that's all of them. Watched the new T7 today at Decatur Farm Show. Nice machine with a few improvements.

Pioneer started seedcorn harvest here a couple of days ago, no commercial corn yet since it is all very green yet although starting to turn.

Champaign, IL area.
