A Reflective Morning
Author: jbohdan2

Shortly after dawn on August 31, I made a stop at Oak Harbor, Ohio with hopes of catching some NS freights using the connection between the Chicago Line and the former N&W (nee W&LE).  I did not have to wait long, as in pretty quick succession two eastbounds took the connection and motored south toward Bellevue.  First up was an empty coal train, followed not long after by an amply powered manifest.  The local avian residents were not disturbed whatsoever by their passage.  The vantage point for these shots has signage making reference to a former interurban line crossing the waterway at this point.  Aside from some old concrete bridge piers sitting in the waterway, one no longer sees any signs of the former right of way.  Perhaps someone with some local knowledge of the long gone interurban can shed some light on what once passed through here.

Beautiful way to start your day.  Thanks for sharing your reflective morning along the Norfolk Southern.

Nice pics.  The interurban line was the Toledo, Port Clinton and Lakeside:

The absence of wind is key to such a reflection shot. Sunrise and sunset are your best bets. You did well.
