"Old Mill Switch" MA&N Boonville NY
Author: ut-1

Mohawk, Adirondack & Northern switching activity at Bailey's Mill, Boonville, NY, on Oct 23rd is featured here.

Also included is a closeup view of the old mill.

A video showing the train returning to Utica with 104 tank cars was earlier posted on TO:  https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,6096065

A longer version of this video may be viewed on my YouTube channel, Railroading Rambler.

Thanks for sharing. That brakeman( conductor?) sure earned his money that day with breaking his back for the customer. (Maybe someone ought to look at the switch before it fails completely?)

Did he ride the end of the car all five miles to pick up the tank cars?

That mill setup would make an interesting industry on a model railroad.

The mill is certainly rustic!

Yes, he rode the shove as shown the entire 5 miles

I can't believe a 5-mile shove with a brakeman hanging on is allowed--doesn't seem safe when all he has are those slim metal rungs to hang onto, and step on.  Plus, it's raining and wet!

It wont be funny if that switch fails (not closed all the way) and causes a derailement which sends cars down btw the bridge and the mill!
