New VGA wrapped car.
Author: scraphauler

A couple weeks ago I teased pictures of a new wrap job on Aberdeen Carolina & Western's kitchen car. ACWR 1758, former AMTK 1758, was built new by Budd as UP 5517, a 44 seat coach. Was heritage coach on Amtrak first as 4449, then 4638 when converted to HEP.  Amtrak turned into baggage car 1737  in 1996, the 1758 when converted to mail service in 2000.  In 2024-2025 ACWR converted into a full commercial kitchen, operating it in a stripped Amtrak scheme in 2025.  This winter, car was wrapped for the Veteran Golfers Association, a Pinehurst based national organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans and their families through to camaraderie and sportsmanship of golf.   vgagolf.org

Today the car ventured out of the shop in Candor and headed down to the passenger car tracks in Pinehurst.

First still shot shows north side of the car featuring "Golf With Honor"
Second still shot shows south side of car featuring "Welcome to Pinehurst, Home of the VGA"
In video we see it passing the house at 1017 this morning headed to the resort.
