Eastern Railroad Discussion > Taking advantage of a reprieve from the frigid temperatures!Date: 02/04/26 11:50 Taking advantage of a reprieve from the frigid temperatures! Author: Pattenburg With temperatures “soaring” into the mid-thirties, a veritable heat wave compared to what central NJ has experienced the past few days, I decided to head trackside to see what was running. My first stop was in Hackettstown (NJ) to see what the motive power was on NJT’s 851. Today’s power was NJT 4502, the wrapped NJT’s salute to the Armed Forces unit. Of all of their wrapped units, in my opinion I feel this is the nicest one. After that it was a stop in Washington (NJ) to see if the Dover & Delaware River’s RP-1 had returned from its run to Phillipsburg. As luck would have it, I found it was shifting cars at the BASF facility. All in all not a bad day to take advantage of the sunshine and warmer temperatures before the frigid weather makes its return.
