The Wall Street Journal reports that Maher Terminals has been shopping its giant facility at Port Newark - Port Elizabeth to various international shipping companies.  This facility, viewed as the last likely to come to market in the NY area may fetch as much as $3 billion for a lease which goes to 2063. Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC already own terminals in the immediate area, Hapag Lloyd is known be considering a bid. The container terminal is one of the largest in the US, and is rail served by Conrail Shared Assets.  Both NS and CSX have large facilities in the area. About nine million boxes moved thru the terminal in 2025.

The physical space is constrained, with the NJ Turnpike on two sides, the Newark Bay to the east, and a large industrial and shopping area to the immediate south.
