6. Recent brush clearing here has exposed these rails of the east end of the Hagerstown Branch that was abandoned and removed about 50 years ago as Chessie System integrated WM into B&O.
 
There was a rumor at the time that the rails were removed very quickly because Maryland DOT was considering extending commuter service over them and Chessie didn’t want that to happen.  Even now there is a fanciful proposal to extend MARC service to Hagerstown by rebuilding the branch.  That would be extremely expensive, partly because of litigation initiated by landowners along the RoW.

7 & 8. An e/b CSXT coal train led by ET44AH #3276 + CW44AC #387 is tied down on #3 Runner.  It’s still there on Wednesday.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen two EMD 4-axle units switching here.
