Norfolk Southern's "Atlanta #1231" unit came by on the front of NS #123 on Wednesday, with a KCS locomotive second in the consist.  This is a neat paint scheme (also common of the "Birmingham #1230" loco).
The paint shop crew must have had fun determining the spacing of the graphics in the middle of the side panels.  I'd be confused trying to mask-off, then painting, that design.

The third unit in the NS "Landmark Series", ES44AC 8184, was released this week. It is named "Altoona".

This is a really BAD paint job.  It is the same half n' half paint jobs that CSX produces, which are disgusting and honor no history.

Don't worry, not long from now, the units will almost likely get repainted into another half 'n half paint job:  yellow and harbor mist.

Its not based off of anything. You can say theres some PRR inspiration but this is a completely custom paint scheme that honors CITIES and HUBS on the NS system. Unless you have been living under a rock NS came out with heritage units in the early 2010s to honor the railroads and rail lines that make up NS. Please stop being such a negative nancy and just enjoy something different.
