NS D&H Heritage at the Juniata Shops

I stopped by the Juniata Shop turntable this afternoon to see the NS 1080 D&H Heritage unit parked on a shop Bay track awaiting attention by shop personnel.

The NS 1069 Virginian unit has been sitting awhile at the turntable awaiting work as well.

It has gotten a bit dirty compared to a couple years ago when it was cleaned up for NS OCS duty and for an event in Altoona.

The Virginian was all cleaned up and on display at The Railroaders Memorial Museum back in June 2024.

The Virginian was repainted along with Lackawanna, IT, and Southern thou it was rebuilt from wreck damage.

I believe the Reading unit has also been repainted. Some of the other EMDs could sure use a fresh coat of paint.

Correct, the Reading was repainted too, sometime in early 2023.

Hopefully they can get the bugs worked out of 1080.

I wonder how long it takes to paint one of these heritage units vs the standard NS black.  All of them are pretty intricate schemes that require diligance in lettering and logo placement vs the typical horsehead and stripes.
