Eastern Railroad Discussion > Nice Mural at Georgetown, ILDate: 03/02/26 14:28 Nice Mural at Georgetown, IL Author: BruceStikkers This mural is one of a number around town. Georgetown is south of Danville, IL ( about 120 miles south of Chicago) and this memoralizes the Illinois Terminal interban branch line. At one time you could take the IT up the branch to Danville and then go all the way to St. Louis. There was also a New York Central line running from Chicago south all the way to Cairo in far southern Illinois through a rich coal area. The picture is a couple of years old but the mural was still in great shape in a trip through town a month or so ago.
