Eastern Railroad Discussion > Rock Island on the Gulf & Ship IslandDate: 04/02/26 22:38 Rock Island on the Gulf & Ship Island Author: tuxedorailfan April 1st, 2026
No, this isn't some April Fool's photoshop garbage. It's true, the Rock Island now (and has for a while) operates on a piece of the former Gulf and Ship Island. Rock Island Rail leases the old "Seaway Lead" from CPKC and serves a handful of customers. While working in Gulfport, MS the last couple of weeks to get my qualifications up to par, I went out after work this week to get some photos of the ROCK equipment. Always a treat to see some "Reborn Blue." Enjoy! -Dylan Date: 04/03/26 06:33 Re: Rock Island on the Gulf & Ship Island Author: cozephyr Great find there Dylan. Appreciate you taking the time to find Reborn Blue in Mississippi.
Last time I encountered Rock Island (RLIX) 4373 she was on the Mississippi Delta RR at Sumner, MS, 21 May 2020. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 04/03/26 06:37 by cozephyr.
