Eastern Railroad Discussion > Railroady Solution to Problem? Clanker Balls?Date: 04/07/26 11:07 Railroady Solution to Problem? Clanker Balls? Author: wabash2800 Railroads invented Tell-tales over a hundred years ago to save railroaders walking the tops of railroad cars. This idea has sprouted up in Deleware for motorists encountering low clearance bridges. Maybe this idea will get around?

Main problem is when the tall vehicle not only hits the device, but rips it out of the ground or the pieces hanging down come lose and hit a vehicle in the opposing direction.....lawsuit.
My County has switched to the electric eye and advance warning signs. But the trucks still hit the bridge. The truck drivers that hit the bridge just don't pay attention. For at least 50 years. Posted from Android Date: 04/08/26 06:51 Re: Railroady Solution to Problem? Clanker Balls? Author: OHRY Schantz Road in Fogelsville, PA has these installed to protect a bridge on the C&F secondary as well as numerous signs. However, despite all this usually once every couple of weeks someone tries to take a truck under the bridge and gets stuck. It's happened so many times that they are spun around the pole they are mounted to. It just proves you can literally hit someone over the head but you can't fix stupid.
