Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX I128 at the tater patchDate: 04/08/26 18:35 CSX I128 at the tater patch Author: CSX2605 Today we started putting on nitrogen for the potato crop. M517 and M503 both had passed before we made it to the field so I was hoping for another train and I128 came to the rescue. I128 is a daily Atlanta - Chicago intermodal. Always fun to work and watch trains pass.

The Baby Tater plants looked great. Here in Eastern PA last night and tonight we have freezing weather, last night 29F, same for tonight. The Taters would have been nippy for sure! All my veggie seedlings that started germinating March 26 are happy and secure in their nursery in my basement for now. When all danger of freezing is gone they will move to the back porch where they will be safe from any overnight frost under the roof. May 15 is the "safe date" around here to plant in the open garden. Unfortunately although there is a main NS track across the street there is no way to include trains in my "farming" photos. But attached is a feeble try... From an HO Scale drone under awful LED lighting here is an image of a Reading Alco in my seedlings. Funny I didn't even know this Alco was here! My younger son built an HO layout using my HO trains I built in the Sixties and added some other bits and pieces. As for the Alco I guess he never obtained the Reading "Bee Line " decal set. He married and moved out 7 years ago. I guess I need to stuff all his and my old HO stuff in a box and drop it off at his home! I still race cars and the SCCA says, "Fun with Cars", So here is a little "Fun with trains". No grafitti.
