A relative out in Michigan asked me if I knew of a special NS move with UP passenger equipment and the two NS OCS units leading from Chicago to Harrisburg, PA.

Does anyone have any information I can pass along regarding departure time from Chicago and train symbol if known?

Not sure of train consist, but UP is running an OCS from Chicago to Harrisburg April 14th-16th.

Symbol will be 956, will overnight in Conway on Tuesday, depart for Rutherford Yard in Harrisburg early Wednesday morning

This consist  that left Omaha march 23 that ran to Herrington KS that day then west to California back to Colorado last week down to Pueblo then deadheaded to Proviso is the likely consist, not sure what diesels will lead on the NS

EDIT NS OCS engines are on it!

The  Borg is on their way and unfourtunatly for all of  the NS fans it can't be stopped. This message is coming from a retired SP Locomotive Engineer who ended up doing 20 years in that position on the Union Pacifiic.

Does anyone know when the train will depart from Harrisburg for its return trip to UP rails? 

Looks like the trip will culminate with NS showing off their "ETMWRY" (Every Train Must Work Rutherford Yard) Intermodal plan. Have never seen a company so hell bent on making an 8000 foot "premium" train stop to work at a yard that has only one route in/one route out, when they literally have another train GOING TO THE SAME DESTINATION scheduled to work at the same time!

Pretty bold to be using UP's own equipment to inspect its conquest. Will any NS cars be added to train?

UP OCS equipment led by NS #8183 Chicago and NS #1230 Birmingham passed the Virtual Railfan live cam heading east at Chesterton at 0629 Tuesday 4/14/26. UP Fox River inspection car is on the marker.

Commentary on Virtual Railfan's Horseshoe Curve live cam says 956 crew was on duty at Conway at 0430 Wednesday 4/15/26 but had not departed as of 0520. Should pass the Johnstown live cam after 0730 and Horseshoe Curve cam after 0830?

UPDATE: per Heritageunits.com, NS 956 passed Glenfield PA (~8 miles west of Pittsburgh) at 0630. So pass Johnstown cam after 0830?
