Norfolk Southern train 955 passed by today on the NS B-line near Linden, Virginia. Here are a couple photos and a video from the Applachian Trail crossing. Power was newly painted NS ES44AC 8184 “Altoona” and SD70IAC 1231 “Atlanta.” They are part of a new Landmark series of specially painted locomotives.  It was cloudy day but a pleasant ride no doubt for the gentlemen on the porch.

Train looks good passing the spring green

Looks like trip sodomizer is being used, running one engine, crawling along.  Gotta save that gas for the shareholders.

probably a deadhead any way, kinda craving a complete red engine or two

What other sort of traffic does the "B" Line see?

I really like the colors and NS fleet of cars.  Would hate to see them become all yeloow.  They even had a classic rounded observation car in this train!!

Question: Is the train used as hotel rooms only, with brass flying in on company jets to Augusta, or do they actually travel aboard it?

It's a deadhead home. It is used for hotel space. 

I miss the F-units as well.  I'm not sure about Wick's car - I heard for a time it was no longer stored with the rest of the NS fleet, but I do not know it's current status.

In terms of traffic on the active portion of the NS B-Line (Manassas to Riverton Junction, VA):

25A/24X (formerly 211/212) Croxton, NJ--Atlanta pair - domestic intermodal
27A/28R (formerly 203/204) Rutherford, PA--Atlanta pair - domestic intermodal
288/289 (formerly 201/202) Rutherford, PA--Rossville, TN pair - intermodal plus trach containers, sometimes takes N&W Shenendoah Valley Line but is still often routed via Riverton Junction/Manassas/Lynchburg/Roanoke as far as I know
275/274 (formerly 228/227) Enola, PA--Norfolk, VA pair - international containers (works the Virginia Inland Port) also has mixed freight nowadays over the B-Line
13R/12R Enola, PA-- Somewhere in the Carolinas pair - mixed freight
K90 Manassas local - local works only as far west as Marshall, VA 
K94 Manssas-Springfield  - rock train - local works only as far west as the quarries near Manassas

Pretty rare, but occasionally coal mtys and even more rarely loads are routed on the B-Line.  That's all I think, but corrections welcome.

Not sure why one loco is being used. Trip sodomizer is banned from use on the OCS lol.
