Eastern Railroad Discussion > Is CSX double stack clearance work finished at Baltimore?Date: 04/29/26 06:24 Is CSX double stack clearance work finished at Baltimore? Author: JPB There's a posting on the CSX Albany Divison Facebook page saying that the Baltimore - Chicago CSX IM trains that had been running circuitously by way of Philadelphia, New Jersey, and upstate NY have been or are about to be re-routed directly via the Baltimore Trailer Jet route over Sand Patch, presumably double stacked. Any confirmation?
On a related note, I have yet to see a double stacked I031 (N to Jax) or I032 (Jax to NJ) pass the Folkston or Ashland live cams - as of this morning, they were still configured as single stacked or TOFC on spines. Author: DJ-12 Time will tell, but Its probably a decent bet that the existing I018 CHI-Baltimore train which is currently running single level and a very short block of trailers (and autos?) starts handling the Baltimore stacks current running via the Water Level and they establish a new westbound equivalent via the B&O. What will be more interesting is what routing Philly intermodal takes. Its been years since the Philly trains were shifted to the NYC to be able to take advantage of the better clearances. I would imagine that routing choice is closer to a push from a running time perspective..

Today at 09:00 there was an e/b double stack train with international containers at the front (couldn't see the rear) tied down on #3 Runner in Brunswick, MD. It was still there at 15:00. Gerry

but not thru the tunnel yet-- major obstacle was raising the north avenue bridge, more difficult then planned. Date: 04/29/26 18:52 Re: Is CSX double stack clearance work finished at Baltimore? Author: DJ-12 GPutz Wrote:

Gerry That looks like I136 to Suffolk. Probably held for the bridge curfew in DC. Posted from iPhone |
