Question about a Conrad Yelvington RS1 in Miami, FL?
Author: rrhistorian

Conrad Yelvington is a sand and gravel supplier with multiple locations across Florida.

In 2004, a complete roster of Conrad Yelvington locomotives was posted to Trainorders - https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,756933

Their facility in Miami, at 5816 SW 177th Ave, Miami, FL 33193 has an Alco switcher and a RS1 on site, which are visible in current aerial photos.

I’m particularly interested in identifying the RS1 at this facility. On the roster at the link above, it states that their Miami facility served by CYDZ 262 Alco RS1 Miami (Krome), FL Ex-Chattahoochee Industrial 1111, exx-Louisiana Midland 1111, nee-GM&O 1111

This was one of 5 RS1 locomotives on the Conrad Yelvington roster at the time.

A more recent roster is available at https://www.thedieselshop.us/ConradYell.HTML This one does not list locomotives by facilities, but it does state that CYDZ 262 has been retired.

Does anyone here know what RS1 is currently in Miami, and what he current disposition of CYDZ 262 is?

CYDZ 262 is / was likely the last extant GM&O RS1, aside from two RS1 locomotives purchased second hand from the Illinois Terminal shortly before the merger with Illinois Central to create Illinois Central Gulf.

Any information or leads are welcome.
