Eastern Railroad Discussion > The "Little Giant..." the CSX 1875 P&LEDate: 05/05/26 20:03 The "Little Giant..." the CSX 1875 P&LE Author: Forever-Railfan-45 During its heyday the P&LE's trackage accounted for only 10% for railroad miles in the United States but the P&LE accounted for 1% of all tonnage carried by rail. That was becausee of all of the coal, coke, iron ore, steel and other misc. freight. It had made its way into Ohio at one point. With the collapse of the steel industry also came the demise of the "Little Giant." IIRC they had a yard that was called the Gateway yard, Thanks for looking.

Recheck your percentages they seem reversed ? At least to my hardening gray matter. Maybe 1% of trackage, 10% of traffic handled? Whatever, it's late my mind is tired, I'm starting my 9,606th orbit around our Sun, getting dizzy.
