Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS 1776 (Bell) first runDate: 06/01/26 18:14 NS 1776 (Bell) first run Author: EL833 Norfolk Southern's newest special paint unit made it's first run today hauling a short OCS consist west to meet up with the UP Big Boy in Chicago. Shown late day at Rootstown, Ohio on the NS Cleveland Line. There were plenty of westbounds running a couple hours ahead of the OCS, including this one that had a pair of KCS units in the locomotive consist. I've always enjoyed photos at this location, seeing the trains come around the curve at speed.

I'm happy to be alive to witness these tributes to our Nation's Celebration. I was here in 1976 to serve on a local Bicentennial Committee to organize activities for the Sports Car Club of America's activities. It was honor although just seen as a "duty" by me at the time. Most would never realize there were (are) so many restrictions in graphic presentations. As the appointed artist I became aware quickly, the logos and other graphis were proprietary and you could not deviate! I still have a few selections of the Letterheads and Envelopes from 1976. Where in the Heck did those years go? Gonut Date: 06/02/26 03:39 Re: NS 1776 (Bell) first run Author: ClubCar A great photo of the Norfolk Southern 1776 engine. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
