Victor Baird Date: 08/04/26 12:37 Re: Just another Rockville Bridge shot Author: JUTower I love the summer "north side" light at the Rockville Bridge. Well captured!
Date: 08/04/26 12:49 Re: Just another Rockville Bridge shot Author: randgust Yeah, that's an angle - with the low afternoon light - that is only possible during certain high-summer days. The bridge runs diagonally to the sun - directly across the Susquehanna - but is angled so that you only get that lighting late afternoon summer.
I assume that was shot off the bottom of the boat ramp (which BTW is public access). And I always have to put in a plug for Bridgeview B&B, that's the best place to stay for the ultimate lazy railfan experience. I've shot trains out of the windows just getting out of bed in the winter! Date: 08/04/26 14:30 Re: Just another Rockville Bridge shot Author: feclark santafe199 Wrote:

The elements definitely came together for this picture: Great late day 'golden' light, nice puffy clouds, an historic and picturesque bridge (even with a bunch of extraneous stuff hanging off it) and with the exception of the motive power, a colorful train. Like a few of you noted, the dark shadow on the mountain really makes the bright containers pop. I shot a couple of other westbounds during this 'golden hour', but even with a bit more interesting road power, the mix of elements that made this shot special just wasn't there. 'Dem's the breaks!
