What are the two short pipe-like things on top of the hood of the wide-cab locomotives? There was only one of the same thing, centered, on the early-generation diesels.

Yes, I do "count rivets." What a wonderful analogy for my artistic process, Gonut1! Many of the past illustrations include my adding the sand filler caps, without my knowing what their purpose until now.

I'll be a vendor at WMRS's Rail Fest 2026, between September 18th through 20th again.
