Eastern Railroad Discussion > Oddity - P&LE CaboosesDate: 01/28/04 14:52 Oddity - P&LE Cabooses Author: cw60ac A lousy day, but an unusual photo...
P&LE caboose #507 was among the victims of a wreck on the Monongahela RR in 1990 (I don't know the details). Prior to being scrapped, the caboose was dumped along the tracks in Waynesburg, PA. If cabooses could talk, what exchange might have taken place between the P&LE caboose on the passing train and it's wounded brother lying nearby on it's roof Date: 01/28/04 16:27 Re: Oddity - P&LE Cabooses Author: biff Reminds me of a P&LE caboose that was in a similar position on the D&H around Unadilla NY about 1986. Dont know the story behind that one either.

I was on my way to my last visit of Western Maryland's famous Blackfork Grade below Thomas when I heard breaking news on the radio about a train derailment in Waynesburg. Couldn't pass up the side trip, so when I drove by some now forgotten MRY location, there she was, upside down in a creek. Can't remember all of the details, but I believe there were injuries.
