Regarding the Central Railroad of NJ in the Bridgeton, NJ area. A group is looking for information "regarding a railroad bridge over the Cohansey River built as part of what was once the Central Railroad in the late 19th century, to Bowentown/Greenwich NJ. People have walked across the bridge as he easiest access to what was early on a park area (due to the gift of Mary Elmer). The park area today consists of 1100 acres in a town of just 6
square miles. It has three lakes, many hiking and biking trails, numerous recreation fields for various sporting events, a free public zoo, a authentic replication of a Swedish Farmstead, and so forth."

At one time the rail line (Central of New Jersey)that crossed the bridge you are asking about ran SW to the coast of the Delaware Bay where there was a ferry slip to transport passengers across the bay to Woodland Beach, Delaware. Another railroad company (eventually part of the Pennsylvania RR)ran from Woodland Beach across the State of Delaware through the towns of Smyrna, Clayton, Massey, to another ferry dock on the western shore of the Delmarva Peninsula. This may have been Chestertown where the ferries crossed the Chesapeake Bay to Baltimore. I do not think the ferries carried rail cars, only the passengers. Needless to say this service didn't last very long into this century.
