Can't blame you, what with CSX being such a perfect carrier and all :^).

This thread has been going for over 12 hours and nobody has urinated and moaned about the steam program? WOW! This may be a first!

Now that's a "good" observation -- no punn intended. I think everybody has lost faith in NS reviving the steam program and that in itself is a travesty. If UP and BNSF can do steam, one would think that NS and CSX could also do steam.

Possibly, just possibly, there will be a change of mind when Mr Goode retires and the new leader takes over the helm.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree wtih everyone...especially in dealing with Aiken, SC. NO ONE in NS Corporate, including David Goode, had anyhting to do with the switch being left open...if it was done by employees then it was human/employee error...or it could've been foul play...I seriously doubt that the gov'nt would tell us if it was...But to blame Goode for it is plainly wrong. Like or hate NS they ARE currently producing better numbers and results for the shareholders, which all company management's ultimately need to answert to and be resonsible for since they "own" the company. As far as I can see I think they are doing fine.

This breaking news just in: As a follow-up to David Goode being named "Railroader of the Year," God has just announced that the "Angel of the Year" citation goes to someone called "Lucifer."

Yeah and I root for the Braves. The Braves will go 162-0 and win the Series before NS allows a steam engine on its rails.

And so there are doing fine, everyone should be able see that. I can acknowledge the good works of someone or some company I don't like and doing so doesn't make me like them. I like MY company warts and all. No I don't like all they do or don't do. But it's MY company, see?

I'm not blaming David Goode personaly for the wreck and deaths in SC. I'm just stating that, regardless of who's at fault, somehow NS will probably win the Harriman Award again and I would think that a incident like this would take them out of contention for the award.

Amen, Goode himself did not leave the switch open, it was human error or foul play. If you look at NS's safety record compared to others I think it is top notch.

"I'm not blaming David Goode personaly for the wreck and deaths in SC. I'm just stating that, regardless of who's at fault, somehow NS will probably win the Harriman Award again and I would think that a incident like this would take them out of contention for the award."

This one incident will not take NS out of contention for the Harriman Award. In the "eyes" of NS's injury record, there were only two blemishes. The CO and EN. Even though one was a fatality, it is only 2 strikes. As a whole NS still has the lowest injury numbers "reported" for man-hours worked. The other unfortunate deaths in this incident have nothing to do with the Harriman Award.
