Model Railroading > Antenna For UP AC4400CW?Date: 05/27/07 17:37 Antenna For UP AC4400CW? Author: neilgross Hello,
It looks like UP's C44AC-CTEs (a.k.a. late phase AC4400CWs that match the Kato model) have a small antenna on the right side of the cab roof just behind the right numberboard. It looks similar to the teardrop antenna made by Details West and Sunrise Enterprises, but is not teardrop shaped. Does anybody make a detail part for this antenna? I just need to add this part to a Kato UP AC4400 before calling it finished. Thanks! Date: 05/27/07 18:48 Re: Antenna For UP AC4400CW? Author: vette1988 neilgross Wrote:

Do you have a reference picture that we can see, to give us an idea what it exactly looks like? Date: 05/27/07 21:10 Re: Antenna For UP AC4400CW? Author: neilgross Hi,
Here are the best photos I could find so far: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=98820 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=115047 http://ncespee.railfan.net/UP/upac4400cw/up5707.html The antenna is white and roughly even with the second digit behind the locomotive's right numberboard. Unfortunately, these photos do not really show off the shape of the antenna too well. Date: 05/28/07 16:56 Re: Antenna For UP AC4400CW? Author: vette1988 neilgross Wrote:

Well, from looking at some pictures and some of my UP Overland brass I have came to the conclusion that it is most likely a Sinclair antenna (small), but not a regular Sinclair. It is very small, rectangular and painted white. It is used for the E.O.T. (End of Train Device). So I guess you are wondering who makes one? Well, Overland has one Part #9052, Antenna Sinclair Small E.O.T. (End of Train Device), $2.85. It is on their Web Site under Detail Parts. I would call and talk to Brian Marsh first to confirm what it looks like, because there are no pictures. He would know exactly what it is and he show have detailed pictures he might E-mail you. Good Luck. Date: 05/31/07 21:20 Re: Antenna For UP AC4400CW? Author: neilgross Thanks!
Details West makes a small Sinclair antenna too. I might even have a few lying around. |
