athearn container the other night and here are the results. Mason Date: 03/10/09 23:03 Re: weathered Walthers 53 well car and Athearn containe Author: MrMRL Mason, looks like a winner to me! You're one step ahead of me, I still need to weather most of my containers. I just recently finished weathering the well cars. Now I have to go through the crate full of containers and grunge them up one by one. What method or medium did you use to weather your equipment, paint? chalk?

Good grime. Realistic rust. That is all, carry on. Date: 03/11/09 07:36 Re: weathered Walthers 53 well car and Athearn containe Author: spike Most of the weathering is a mixture of acrylic paint mixed with water with a few drops or 70%
Isopropyl Alcohol. I applied two coats starting with a gray color first and then a brownish rust color. I I then used some chalks to finish it. The container I weathered the same way but I wiped of most of the paint when it was still wet. Most of the weathering was applied with a foam brush and a cu-tip. Hope this helps Mason |
