X2011 West is East Coast model RRing as well - C&O 1947

Hi, all,

Thought you'd all like to know that X2011 West (the National NMRA convention July 3-9, 2011 in Sacramento, CA) layout tours are not just Western railroads, there is a strong contingent of East Coast model railroading and layouts as well.

We just posted a photo album of Andy Schur's Chesapeake & Ohio HO layout:

Andy's layout, which was featured in February 2005 Model Railroader, will be on the layout tours. Set in Summer 1947 in West Virginia, you can see the huge Lima 2-6-6-6 Alleghenies in full force.

HO C&O Scenery: 90%, mainline run: 5 scale miles, Walk-around, loop to loop staging, operations runs trains on quasi C&O schedule for the day shift

Main line extends from Alleghany, Virginia to Prince, West Virginia with staging representing Clifton Forge, VA and Handley, WVA. There is a branch line off the main at Prince leading to the town of Raleigh, WVA with three coal mines to work and some industries in the town of Raleigh. Mainline industries include a large power plant, limestone quarry, produce distributor,
lumber mill, lumber yard, and coal dealer. Most online towns have a freight station to work. 5 passenger trains operate during a session, sessions last 5 hours with a meal break in the middle.

I've posted three photo extracts from that album, hope you enjoy these periodic updates, and hope to see many of you at the convention. Even if you are able to make just a couple of days, it will still be worth it. You can always purchase one day convention tickets on site. More info at http://x2011west.org :-)

Information is really starting to flow hot and heavy about X2011 West, and we're only in February. :-)

Second shot looks like Hinton, WV on the C&O where I've been many times. It still looks the same today.

That looks exactly like Hinton in the second picture.
