Overland C30-7 in HO
Author: bxmoore

Here's a quick video and a couple of snaps of my friend Rob Mallett's Overland C30-7 locomotives.

He's installed a Tsunami in each, and it was my happy task to input our standard custom 28-step speed curve yesterday. The decoders still require a final tweaking, but the results hopefully speak for themselves.

You guys did a nice job Brian. 'Reminds me of the many times I saw those in person starting up on the grade at Cajon Pass. The sound is great as you captured the chugging sound of the U-Boats very well. 'Cudos to Tsunami too! That's what it's all about!

Very nice Brian.

Those are some good looking U-Boats.
The sounds are excellent with one very minor note:

Un-like the S.P. who used Nathan P3 horn mostly,
the Santa Fe used Leslies - S-3L-R or RS-3L-R.

These 2 horns have their own distinct sound.
The horn you have there has the Nathan P3 sound no doubt.
Is the sound system capable of changing the horn voicing over
to the sound of a matching AT&SF Leslie?

Superb models and layout none the less,

Gary

Hi Brian

Actually both C30-7s do have the correct air horns selected on the decoder. 8052 being as built configuration has the S-3L while Kodachrome 8055 has the refurbished RS-3L. I found this site atsf.railfan.net/airhorns/ really use full with my research. Thanks for doing the work Brian and love the pictures.

Thanks, all.

Actually, Gary and Rob are BOTH correct - Rob did indeed input the correct horn sounds into both, but I had to re-set the decoders when I was speed-curving them, probably losing the accurate horn sound in the meantime!

Rob's message above shows how you can really benefit from doing the correct research, and it's one of the pleasures of the Tsunami that you can programme in the right sounds.

Very nice details from Overland. Like Santa Fe as well.
