kato N Scale Metra MP36 engines are here!
Author: mikenolan630

Saw one today at the great midwest train show swap meet. Guy said he just got his direct from Kato and only the engines are here the passenger cars and still on the water. He wanted the full $120 so I wasnt going to buy it. The engine looks as good as gold!!!! The packing almost reminded me of the atlas engines with the darker gray foam instead of the usual kato white fill in foam...should of taken a picture with my phone but didn't

I guess the guys at Trueline could learn something from Kato......even though thanks to TLT for doing them to begin with...even if they take over a year or 2 to get here.

Yeah, I hope TLT gets enough reservations to justify their run of HO MP36/MP40s. That was the last I heard from the guys at TLT. The painted sample of a GO Transit MP40 that I saw at a recent show looked promising. I just hope it gets to market.

Or.. Kato.. are you listening?? HO MP36/MP40?? (Yes, different frame lengths.. )

Best Regards,
Harry Wong

I'd honestly love to see Kato bring this whole set to HO! Virginia Railway Express has similar cars to Metra, with just a few differences. I'd love to see these made available to us HO modelers!

Same goes for Caltrain (San Francisco,CA). We have the same cars and locomotives.

Cheers,

I have not cancelled my reservation, so I'm in no mood to tolerate any excuses from TLT. Better late than never, but never never, please.

Once the Caltrain version is released from Kato, I will buy at least one, and I'm confident they'll be released. Kato hit the release date pretty close. I got Athearn Bombardier cars waiting in both HO and N.

You can thank MPI for 90% of the delays, not TLT.

Is the Kato unit licensed? If not, MPI will want -and get- a cut. Just ask Athearn how things are going with the MPI paint schemes on the F59's....

Congrats to you n-scalers for getting a modern passenger unit.
I'm still waiting for a dimensionally correct F40 that's on par with the TLT MP36. ..thanks, Kato...

Did Kato do the Pullman-Standard (I think?) bi-level commuter cars in N scale? It would be neat to have those older blue, gray, and orange striped VRE cars to mix in with these new sets.

No, but Wheels of time did.
