Here's a link to Microscale's 2 & 3 bay hopper decals:

Anyone know when they went to the red scheme?

Some PS-2 and ACF cars were delivered new with red lettering. Yellow too. I've never seen any logic to the color selection. Later repaints were done in the larger billboard Gothic scheme in black, and I believe some were also repainted with red lettering, either partial or the complete car.

The fun thing about modeling SP cement cars is that, almost literally, no two are painted exactly the same.

So there are no specific dates associated w/ each color schemes? They were all used thru time together?

Thanks for that one but what about all the reporting data?
Capacity, Cubic Feet etc....
I have the RR Gothic and it doesn't look like the correct style lettering but would the Roman work?
THANKS

I suppose it depends on your modeling time frame, but yes, certainly by the 1970s, the 2-bay ACF and PS-2 cars of all colors were used in the same service - cement. A few were also used in company sand service.

Again, I've never seen any published consensus/explanation as to what the color variations meant with regards to type of service. If there was a 'rule' at one point, it appears that it was short-lived.

Railroad Roman is what you want for cars wearing original paint. On re-stencilled/repainted cars, the font sometimes varied.
