Finally My F's show up
Author: NSTopHat

The only F units I personally am concerned about are the NS F units, as I model ultra modern NS. OMI has recently released these units in singles as well as full four unit sets. Only 32 sets were produced, according to the builders plates on the bottom of each unit. Each unit is modeled specific to the prototype, including the subtle differences in the roof top appliance arrangements. Models are DCC ready and will be getting Soundtrax decoders this weekend.

OMI, nice work, allot of hard work there!

Nice looking models. Athearn made the 4271 and 4275, but the 4275 was not powered. The details were very minimal. I don't know how many models they produced. I have them stored in a box somewhere...

Beautiful units. Now you just need OMI's Delaware dome lounge and OMI needs to get on the ball and produce the rest of NS's business car fleet.

Thanks. I do have the Delaware to go with it, and am wanting OMI to do the rest of the fleet.

Thanks guys. The only change I will be making is that I am going to be installing Sergent SE or SF type couplers.

Very nice. In view of the fantastic Genesis/Highliner nose, I find it amazing that limited edition brass can produce such a lovely nose.

You just have to love an F unit.

I'm planing on getting the Delaware to model a small NS business train but, too also compare against my OMI ATSF dome lounge 60. Your one lucky modeler to have the OMI NS F units.

Charlie;

There are a couple of plastic models that can be used for a couple of the business cars as well. I don't have the info off the top of my head, as it was discussed on the N&WHS modelling forum. IIRC, Walthers makes a car that is specific to one car in the train and one of the MTH stand alone coaches works as well for another. I will see if I can dig that up this weekend.

Have to say those are spectacular models. And yes, the noses look spot-on.

Beautiful models! I've had the opportunity of getting some recent OMI models as well (mostly GEs), and the DCC readiness makes them very easy to retrofit. I'm not sure if your units are wired similarly, however I have had to rewire the ditch light leads on the small circuit board in order to get them to operate off the proper function lead (I believe they hook both light leads to one function) Easy enough to fix, and everything is labeled nicely.

Enjoy!
