Which Walthers truck would be correct to model this car with?

The truck pictured is a GSC 41 CDO with disc brake. I have a spare set floating around somewhere. PM me if needed.

The three model trucks shown are all solid
equalizer bars and the prototype photo has I beam
style equalizer bars.

Any would fill the bill if you're not worried about

Oh, I don't know if identifying an entirely different kind of truck would qualify as pit-nicking!

The truck under the UP baggage has prominent outside swing hangers, and disk brakes -- meaning no visible brake shoes or hangers like the 41-HR, and no empty brake cylinder cast and drilled mounting plate on the top of the sideframe as on the disk-brake-converted 41-CNS-11 and 41-N-11.

The UP truck also has an entirely different profile to the frame casting. It's a postwar truck, whereas the other trucks listed could be found on prewar cars (in their original clasp-brake configuration). And the UP truck has the I-beam drop equalizers, as 2720 mentions. Actually, the designation should be 41-CUDO, with the 'U' being a unique variant for Union Pacific. (That's '4' for number of axles, '1' for number of bolsters, 'C' for wheelbase code, 'U' for UP, 'D' for disk brake, and 'O' for outside swing hanger.)

Nitpicking would be telling the 41-CNS-11 and 41-N-11 apart. Now that's getting into the weeds. :-)

Yep, outside swing hanger truck is a major spotting feature of later UP passenger cars. No reason not to have them.

Yes. What they said. Possible edge to the Train Station Products truck for closer-to-UP journal type and pedestal straps; possible edge to Walthers for metal construction; their truck is also a later Amtrak configuration. But who'd notice? :-)

UP does run AP-EE Amtrak style rotating end caps on some of the cars, this one still has Timken K box bearings.

I thought someone made a cover for the Walthers trucks to simulate the box bearing look.

Not that it matters, because I'm in N scale, and happy to have trucks that look remotely close to the right style!

If you select a Walthers truck, you will need to add journal covers and decelostats. Train Station Products sells these items.

Unfortunately those wheelsets are sold out at Walthers, does anyone know what cars those would have been on that Walthers sold? Or where a pair or two might be located at a LHS that I could contact.
