Currently on the work bench
Author: santafedan

I am nearing completion of a snow shed for a guy I am doing scenery on his GN HO layout. It is loosely based on the Marias pass wooden shed. All I need to do is put the roof on it. That is tomorrows project.
The shed is 5 feet long and has 45 supports. His layout is very large and it will fit nicely. He has to paint the back ground once I get to his place.

Wow, can't wait to see what it will look like on the layout. Nice job.

This looks very nice. It looks like you are using wood (?) and if so, what stain will you use to Creosote it?

It looks like the sheds up between Java heading towards Blacktail.

It is wood and it is MinWax Wood Finish "Golden Oak." I apply it with a rag dipped in the stain and then pull the wood strips thru the rag. I like the stain to be not too dark. If you recall the big trestle I did for my layout I kept it light. The reason was I did not want a large dark object hiding the details and the general over all scene. I uses a different stain on my trestle but it looks similar to the shed.

Here is the shed I used. I took this from Amtrak #8.

Here is another photo but of the first shed east of Essex. Looks like many of the sheds have a concrete backwall.
You have a very detailed snowshed. Looks great...but..I would have made it at least a bit darker.
Post some installed photos please...
