Model Railroading > Happy Birthday Burlington Northern!Date: 03/01/15 21:55 Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! Author: pmack I know I'm a day early but let's get the party started! 45 years tomorrow BN was formed from the merger of NP, GN, SP&S and CB&Q. Lou Menk was at the helm and Nixon was in the White House. A gallon of gas was 36¢ and the federal debt was $381 billion.
In my garage, it's 1995 and BN is hauling coal in circles but you can't go back! Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/01/15 22:30 by pmack. Date: 03/01/15 22:28 Re: Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! Author: trkspd Amazing modeling!

That really is top notch modeling, sure looks realistic to me. Kris Date: 03/02/15 08:41 Re: Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! Author: csx4793 Let's see more of this layout

Date: 03/02/15 09:19 Re: Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! Author: railstiesballast Excellent work. I like the switch machine and signal enclosure.
I see (what I think/hope) your camera reacts to red LEDs like mine do: they make it orange-yellow. It happens to my images of red LEDs in 1:1 and 1:87 scales. Attempts to correct those colors have not worked for me so far. Date: 03/02/15 10:09 Re: Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! Author: Barstool Pmack.....It almost looks real,, you've done a great job of detail in this scene, love those macks......

Regards,DK Date: 03/02/15 19:32 Re: Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! Author: pmack Thanks all for the comments. I'd show more of the layout if there was more. I have 5 freemo modules in my one car garage. The ends are snap track curves across my workbench on one end and across a scrap of plywood on the other. I like operations but even more like making images like I remember seeing or wish I could have seen. Often there is careful camera placement and digital trickery involved, see this thread from last year when we had winter in Oregon:

Nice era-specific weathering - the variation on each of the two MACs screams 1995 for each of the individual build dates of those units. Also, the shadow effect behind the power makes your photograph especially believable. Great job! David Lehlbach Date: 03/02/15 21:05 Re: Happy Birthday Burlington Northern! I have noted the same issue with real signals too. They look like yellow blocks even though they are reds. Rob |
