NIce!

Though they are a little crude by comparison, they also did a different bulkhead shape then the resin models Bruces's was selling.

These are much more accurate then the old resin kits sold at Bruce's.

Those look very nice.  I'm pleased to see Matt changed the original design from having the boards on the bulkheads molded on.  Now, modelers have the opportunity to have some of these cars with the requisite missing and broken boards that were so common in their later years of service.  Or missing altogether as shown in the photos!

I scratchbuilt 3 of the 53 ft and 3 of the 60 ft cars years ago (never finished one of the 62 ft versions), so I'm actually more looking forward to the version without the bulkheads.  One thing I did learned is that getting a convincing, realistic lumber load on these cars is a challenge.  My original plan to use scale limber quickly fell apart when I realized that it would probably be n more expensive then buying a prototype load of the same size!!!

Congrats to Wheels of Time for bringing this project to fruition.  SP stepped bulkhead flats are a signature car, and I'm sure there's a lot of pent-up demand out there.

Wonderful. To make it better, put in gaps for missing deck boards. BO ratio for SP flats and bulkheads was pretty high in the late 80s because of this

That looks terrific!

I've placed my (sizable for me) order for these Wheels of Time HO GBEC 62'  flatcars (both flat and bulkhead versions) from my LHS. I look forward to these cars, now even more so with these great photos of the preproduction model!

Cheers,
Harry

Each:  $38.95
40029SP 3-Pack, 3 different numbers$116.85
40030SP 12-Pack, all the above numbers$467.40

Had to dig around for them. Seems comparable with the SPH&TS pricing.

That is full MSRP.  Most shops will sell these for a fair bit less.

Harry

Best model of the decade in my book. These are a "MUST HAVE" for SP modelers. Great looking model.

No question about that, just glad somebody is getting these out before we all move into the assisted care facility.

That was an interesting thread, those are Athearn cast resin loads which look pretty good but actually have some minor flaws to them. Certainly encourage the idea though.

Remind me to ballast the yard before I take a new photo.
