SW10 is a UP model designation. They were rebuilt by UP from various early EMD switchers, mostly SW9's and SW1200's. In the rebuilding process, UP added improved cooling capacity; thus the raised radiator area.

Good info on the history of UP's SW10 rebuild project here.  All were rebuilt from SW7's, SW9's and TR5A's.

They didn't add cooling capacity. They improved it by eliminating the mechanically driven radiator fan and replacing it with a pair of electrically driven ones.
Much more efficient and reliable.
