Model Railroading > Damaged stone bridge model

I've got an art project I'm working on dealing with a railroad in a war zone. In a 4 x 8 ft. format, a lot of engineering is tight, so I have a curve viaduct with a 4% grade and a curve switch. This isn't using US equipment, so that is less of an issue than it seems. I took a Kibri kit for a straight stone viaduct, not curved, as I found the curved kit is a 15 inch radius. Plus, as I understand it, viaducts aren't continously curved anyway. Instead, I recut the stright kit to shape it into angled sections. Then I cut out one span. I made a flimsy metal replacement span from plastic girders. It is supposed to look shoddy; this whole thing will look ill-maintained. Then I realized to do things right, I had to make interior texture in the viaduct, so I took some stone blocks that I got as cheap plaster pieces from Romania ($4~) and glued them and some cut out plastic inside to give a 3-dimensional look. All of the painting here was just a base coat of spraypaint; the real painting will come later.

Nice idea and well done! I believe that masonry viaducts can be built to a curve; steel viaducts consist of a series of straight spans.

Very interesting project.  It's interesting to have to build the inside of most anything, as we so rarely have to model it.

It's hard to see in the photos . . . are the beams actually curved, or is just the ballast deck curved?

As an art project I am making a model of 16 years of war in the Middle East. So the time period is contemporary, and the depiction is loose. My influences for the railroad portion are based on study of Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Equipment will follow that influence, for the most part.
