Model Railroading > Santa Fe Beer Cars over tehachapi loop 1987Date: 04/16/17 09:48 Santa Fe Beer Cars over tehachapi loop 1987 Author: bnsfmodeler This Beer for you
Wow this is why I hate posting here anymore, I can't believe the things people say and believe is amazingly stupid (this beer is for you was a joke HA HA) Train is a very close copy of a train I saw on you tube from the 80's and the cars are BLMA and EXACTRAIL and I'm pretty sure they did their home work knowing that Bob that used to post here was going to say something about the color. What a JOKE. better yet get a life, Sorry for my words to the normal Model railroaders Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 04/16/17 18:22 by bnsfmodeler. Rio Grande ran beer trains up the Front Range from the Coors plant in Golden Colorado with a mix of BN, WP, ATSF and D&RGW PC&F 61' beer cars, some like those single door cars in the video. ExactRail and Eel River makes the HO beer cars I have.

E&J Gallo in Modesto is a major shipper using these cars. Railshop's website is gone, so I suspect they may have closed.

I bought a couple of the RTR BN Eel River cars from Rail Shop while they were still in business. Eel River cars still pop up on Ebay; I found a 3rd RTR BN number on Ebay so have 3 numbers of those, as well as a BN made from the Eel River kit. I still have a couple unbuilt Eel River kits ATSF and D&RGW. The D&RGW will be built with the roof flattened and the side sills filled in to match the prototype. ATSF modeler Bob Miller, who used to post here informed me the Eel River red ATSF car should have a red painted roof. CHeers, Jim Fitch Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/16/17 17:44 by SPDRGWfan. Many years ago I worked for Allied Van Lines agency next door and they recieved 3-5 car deliverys quite often. As far as I know they still get deliveries of course now BNSF cars. I do recall once CR delivered a damaged load with one door ripped off and wine cases had apparently been falling out along the way, given the unsavory neighborhood I am sure there were several happy residents that night.
