Date: 04/18/17 18:49 Re: Yavapai Midland Author: fbe Silver paint commonly has a metalic base with something like aluminum. This might be more durable in the oily and dusty environment trucks function in. Go silver.
Date: 04/18/17 21:01 Re: Yavapai Midland Author: MojaveBill I will probably get in trouble for this, but why do folks post pix of really great models in front of a bunch of "stuff!" Get a piece of poster board or a sheet or whatever will not distract our eyes from your wonderful craftsmanship!

That's a fair question, but I think it's a work in progress, not a layout scene or finished product. Hence the background not mattering. If he were running trains or displaying the finished product, then I'd agree. So my vote would also go for silver. Always adds a touch of class to an industrial look. Nice scheme btw! I noticed that too, then looking at the switcher it almost looks like the rear truck is shorter than the front. Must be something with the camera shot. Oh, and silver is better. Yes and no the front truck is Blomberg M truck typically found on dash 2's the rear truck has full brake clasps so the appearance is longer but the wheelbase is identical Date: 04/19/17 07:58 Re: Yavapai Midland Author: fbe No, they are the same truck, neither has clasp brakes though the rear truck has mounts for the sander pipes.
Note the rear of the long hood under the fans is taller than the long hood behind the cab. Chalk this up to wide angle lens distortion from the camera. Date: 04/19/17 08:01 Re: Yavapai Midland Author: Dilworth looks great i think a silver roof would set those colors off
Date: 04/19/17 15:00 Re: Yavapai Midland Author: Brakeman I live in a "temporary" apt. No layout/diorama yet; just working on my loco's for now.
