Model Railroading > Another live frog switch questionDate: 08/12/01 23:16 Another live frog switch question Author: mb3 We also discovered that one of the #6 Walthers wyes on my layout is putting power to both tracks with no concern to which track the points are set for, This is of course a power routed switch which is on its own block for just this track the switch is on.Any thoughts on this? always something to mess up a run night.
Date: 08/13/01 09:15 RE: Another live frog switch question Author: A.Wallace It sounds like the rails beyond the frog of your switch have been jumpered so they receive power no matter how the points are thrown.
Obviously, the frog is insulated from the outside rails, and gets power from the points as they are thrown. I have found that use of a Micro-switch to route power according to the direction of the points is a good answer, as I use twin-coil machines, not Tortoise. |
