Meanwhile, out at Fubar Flats...
Author: BoilingMan

SP4360, ex-pat TO member, continues to develop his FFRR industrial layout.  He sent me a few new photos from his undisclosed location for posting:

This update shows a signaled derail he added to protect the main.
Photo 1.  Lined for the main.
Photo 2.  When lined against, the derail is set too.  But does it actually work?
Photo 3. Ah.  Very prototypical.

Looks great, is it tied in with the main line switch or thrown separately?

How did you change colors on the switch stands? Does it rotate or is there a bi-polar LED in the switch stand. I assume those are Tomar switch stands On a HOn3 layout I built I used a servo to rotate the Tomar switch stand.
Really nice work. Post more photos.

You can't beat the Split D! I know on two occasions where cars jumped Flop-over derails and keep rolling on the rail.

Here is Dale's response to all your comments/ questions:

SR,
That post perked up a few people didn't it.
Here are answers to questions in order they were asked.

1.Derail is thrown independent of main line switch. Cannot get a clear signal unless derail is lined, main track swt. is reversed and the track blocks on either side of main track switch are clear..
2.Derailed cars are clear of main track, pic makes it look closer than it is.
3.Hence the name Fubar Flats.
4.Yes, rotating Tomar Switchstands using engine House Services "Action Link" on Tortoise switch machines, a great combination.
5.Closer to "Sheetz Creek".
