D&RGW GP40 3059
Author: lizzard45

Here's a shot I took of my Atlas HO scale D&RGW 3059 GP40 on the drop step of HLCX 1089, which began life as D&RGW 3059.
The 3059 was painted in SP speed lettering, and sub lettered D&RGW. Then Union Pacific renumbered it 2576, and retired it. Helm Leasing bough it, and numbered it 1089.
It was the last active GP40 on the UP roster.
Our HO models really are kinda small.

What decals did you use to number that Atlas GP40? I have several unnumbered units just like it needing numbers. What about the number boards?

Some clarifications.

SP 3059 was retired by 1997. In 1998 it was sold by the UP to Helm. They had it rebuilt by Boise Locomotive to a GP38-2 in January 1999 and long term leased it to the UP as UP 2576. It was then renumbered to HLCX 1089 on 10/21/10, which is what it remains as today. For the last 22 months it has been stored at Grand Junction, CO, with a whole lot of other units.

SP 3086 was the last GP40 on the UP roster. It was retired on 8/27/09.

I used the Microscale set 87-1128, used this set for the number boards too.
