That's going to do it. I'll probably go back and add some more comments. Ken's got the dream layout and I have mine too. Takes a lot of hard work to get this done. Well done Ken. Thanks for the memories.

Well done Bruce. Thanks for the hard work bringing us Ken's masterpiece. I can't even imagine the lifetimes of hard work involved in building and maintaining a railroad of this size.

I hope that he has more than a Bright Boy to clean all of that track! Fantastic layout! What size is it? How many locomotives and cars are needed on the layout to fill out all of the scheduled trains?

When was this layout featured in MR?

It was in MR twice . April 1999 and Dec 2004. Railroad is in a L shaped barn on the second floor. Main room is 31 by 79 and the later addition is 23 by 31. Total square footage is 3120. The railroad will see a major change this coming summer with a reworking of the central peninsula and removal of the Keating Summit grade. It will go from modeling the entire Buffalo line from Harrisburg to Buffalo a distance of 300 miles to one from the Pa./NY state line to Buffalo a distance of 70 miles. A larger Buffalo Terminal will be the result with some LV and Buffalo Creek operation added along with some large grain/flour mills. This will allow a easier reset between sessions which now takes about 30 hours and a smaller operating crew which is now at 30-32 people. The current era is probably the last one for the Buffalo Line. I sold off almost all my Conrail and steam era PRR equipment so it's doubtfull that they will ever return . It had been operating since April 1994 with a few years break in the middle for a total of 20 years of operation in different eras !! --- Ken

I have gotten to know Ken a bit over the last 18 months and he has been a huge help and encouragement to me.

While what I am creating will never compare to what Ken has built, his work is an inspiration and his friendship has been of great value to me.
Hopefully one day I'll visit him and operate on that beautiful layout.

Thanks Bruce and Bob. Nice to see the railroad during an op session. I'm usually too busy to take photo's ! The white styrene mill buildings behind Mineral Springs yard will soon get some details and a coat of paint. The peninsula at Hyner and Renovo will soon become the Burrow Lot yard area with about 6 grain/flour mills. I'll miss the Keating helpers as they have been pushing trains over various Keating grades for 24 years !! - Ken
