Model Railroading > CSX Dash 8-40C?Date: 04/13/18 13:40 CSX Dash 8-40C? Author: pal77 Just saw on MB Klein that Atlas is Offering Dash 8-40c’s in ChessieSystem scheme. All I ever remember is the total grey stealth scheme. So guessing these are fantasy? Or are they like the EL U23b’s ordered but not delivered or in this case delivered but in stealth? TIA

The CSX 8-40Cs were delivered 8 years later in May 1989. So yes, the Atlas HO Chessie 8-40Cs are fantasy units, and Atlas identified them as such in their announcement. If CSX had decided to leave Seaboard and Chessie Systems as separate operating railroads under the CSX corporate umbrella (as had been done from 1980 to 1986) the Chessie 8-40C units might have been a reality.
