I am sorry but l just can't get excited about a model rail road layout that features Lionel Trains. Their not models , their toys. Having said that everyone to his own .

Well, yes and no. Maybe if they went to to extra effort to weather their rails, what with their pretty nice scenery, the visual effect would be a lot better, in my opinion. There are some pretty nice 3-Rail SCALE layouts out there, that feature outstanding scenery, scale rolling stock, Kedee couplers, and large diameter curves.

Nice! And I would suggest that many of us that enjoy running and (trying to) model trains of any era probably got started on Lionel or American Flyer or... I know I did and still have my early 1950s Lionel Scout along with some accessories.

Regardless of the scale, all models trains are toys. We play dispatcher, engineer, switchman, etc. We pretend to deliver products, cars to industries, make believe paperwork. No different than taking popsicle stick, making airplanes, and running around the yard, and playing dog fight in the yard.

Mr or Ms kinnearyard- I started will Lionel in 25Dec1937., Moved to HO 1950. Now after many years and 3 heart attacks and 2 strokes, I can not work with my HO power. So, I am back to my Lionel and AF O gauge and running some trains in my early 8Os layout. Are you running any trains or just running your mouth? wag216
