Model Railroading > Exact Rail PS5277 Waffle Box Freelance PatchDate: 06/19/18 20:21 Exact Rail PS5277 Waffle Box Freelance Patch Author: NS7214 This ExactRail PS5277 got the freelance treatment and my normal modifications, train air line, cut levers. The trucks were swapped out for Athearn 70 ton with code .88 wheels along with the weigh data changed to match.
NCCR is my freelanced carrier, North Carolina Central. Freight cars are numbered based on their cubic feet capacity starting with the first 3 digits of the capacity, if rebuilt those first 3 digits are pushed one and the car starts with a "7". -DJS Date: 06/20/18 04:56 Re: Exact Rail PS5277 Waffle Box Freelance Patch Author: hartrick24 Awesome work David...

Within the past 15 years older boxcars have received this treatment. It is merely a thick seam sealer which is usually light gray although I've also seen black sealer used as well. It's usually applied to the roof seams, edges where roof meet the sides and sometimes over the door tracks. Even brand new cars have this sealer although it is applied very neatly... Great attention to detail. Thanks for sharing.

I've never noticed it but from where I have watched N-S trains going by in northern VA I generally don't see their roofs. My wife and I moved last fall to a tiny town west of the Washington DC suburbs and a busy N-S mainline comes through town maybe a quarter of a mile from hour house - hear them all the time but as my luck would have it, seems I hardly ever see them when near the tracks. Is there a way I can sort of increase the odds? In the olden days I heard some used scanners.
