I just received a new CN Scale Trains Tier 4 GE loco. I purchased the DC version because they didn’t have the sound one available. What is the best decoder to throw into it? Anyone. Anymone........
Nice model by the way. Very detailed

I received the CN 3100 non sound a couple of weeks ago.. Nice unit.

I installed the ESU LokSound V4.0 21 pin “Generic Sound” ready for programming ( #54499 ) decoder.

Just make sure you turn on the 2 switches on the units main board !!

Good luck !!!

Ok. Question. Did you have to program it? I don’t have the system to download sound files.

I have the Lok Programmer. I recommend it you wont be disappointed.

There is a learning curve , but its worth having.

Sound is really good, but that horn is painfully loud... just the like 1:1.

I find most modelers who run sound have the volume WAY TOO HIGH!!  I like the deep bass sounds of locomitves as much as the net person, but even tho I am somewhat hard of hearing (my wife insists it is selective, she may be right part of the time), some just flat out hurts my ears!  One local club member always seems to have the volume maxed out.  Ruins the experience for me.
