Model Railroading > MTH HO scale NS passenger car set

Hello-

Saw MTH is bringing out a Norfolk Southern Passenger Car set.    Does anyone have these an order?   Was curious how accurate they were to the NS cars.

It will depend upon if they tool new passenger cars for that set, which I doubt...   Most/all of the NS executive fleet are very unique modified cars.

MTH makes a wide range of products and some more accurate than others.  Their 60' flat cars are okay.

PS.  After a few minutes research determined...
(A) that the MTH passenger cars are based on the 1950s N&W Powhattan Arrow cars,
(B) that the NS set they are doing (to be delivered later this year) has 5 cars (the names of those cars are in the MTH site listing for 80-60062), and
(C) 2 of the cars named within the 5-car set have a N&W heritage (two others C&O, one AMTK)

The N&W passenger car sets announced last year at last update were supposed to ship September 2018. I just looked at the shipping schedule..

It shows one N&W and two NS passenger car items. Not sure if this an error or correct, I hadn't seen a prior NS announcement.

None of the cars are correct for any of the NS Business cars. With the exception of the New Orleans, which actually is the WIlliam Mahone, all of the car numbers and names do match each other. That being said none of the car windoes match on the diner or the coaches. The No. 7 - Pennsylvania is an obs car, however the real car is a 6 axle heavyweight with an open air obs platform. The car set, & the N&W cars, is actually a knock off of the Overland Models N&W Powahatan Arrow set, plus the individual cars OMI offered, some years back.

They look good.BUT they should at $95.00 per!

Several things are wrong with the cars
1) Skirting must be removed
2) diaphrams need to be replaced with tubular ones
3) the tuscan paint is incorrect (should have more of a red hue)
4) only two cars are correct diner and the P3 coach are correct
